What’s the idea behind the Women Dive Day?
Did you know that female divers account only for 35% of open water divers and 23% of divers in continuing education courses? The idea by coming together as an industry is to grow the female diver community, motivate existing female divers to get back in the water and encourage new women to start scuba diving and freediving. Drew Richardson, President and CEO of PADI says: “Women Dive Day was originally conceived by PADI as a way to celebrate women’s contributions to diving throughout history and bring more women into the sport today. However, Women Dive Day has a special significance for PADI this year. 2016 is PADI’s 50th anniversary, and as we celebrate our place as both today’s leader and yesterday’s trailblazer in the dive industry, we want to emphasise the critical role women have played — and continue to play — in what is sometimes perceived as a man’s sport.”
Ladies, let’s go diving! No matter if you have never dived before, feeling a bit rusty because you have been out of the water for a while or if you are looking for your next scuba adventure, we have the perfect activity for you.
